Confirmation is a
Sacrament of Initiation celebrated, usually, by high school aged
students. Preparation for this sacrament requires that the student
complete the Trinity Religious Education program. Students in the
9th grade (provided they have completed the Religious Education
requirements) will receive an invitation from the parish to become a
candidate for Confirmation. Each year, a fall
Confirmation track is offered beginning in September,
and a winter Confirmation track is offered beginning in January.
Please contact the Religious Education Department in the
Parish Office if you have questions regarding the Confirmation
Program (586-254-4433).

THE
CONFIRMATION PROGRAM at St. Therese of Lisieux is titled Diesel.
It consists of a few initial meetings, including the Rite of
Election Mass. This is a special Mass for confirmation candidates
that allow candidates to profess to the church community that they
are seeking Confirmation. Then, ten sessions of class time and a
confirmation retreat follow. During the process, Confirmation
sponsors and Confirmation names are selected. Journaling, a Saint
report, small and large group discussion sessions, and time with a
candidate’s sponsor are all part of the process.

TO THE CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES:
Whether it was your choice or not, you
are in for a wonderful journey! Diesel: Destination Confirmation is
about choices. Choices in life, in faith, in relationships, and it
all begins with your choice of how you will accept this process.
You may not have had the choice to sign up, but you do have a choice
on where to go from here – you can open your eyes and jump in, you
can hold back and wade in or you can completely check out by not
being open to the process - it is your choice!
Carpe Diem – Seize the Day! You will hear this phrase echoed
throughout this process. You’ll have wonderful Facilitators of
teens and adults who will encourage you, listen to you, pray with
you and enter into your journey as well. So here is to a wonderful
process of coming to know each other, coming to encounter Christ in
a new way, and having a blast while doing it.
